Rebecca was referred to me by a good friend and wanted what most mums want, some nice photos of her and her family to hang up around the house but also to make a nice album out off.  We discussed the options and decided on a mixed two hour shoot with the first hour at my home studio which was then based in Epsom, Surrey followed by a short trip to Nonsuch Park for some more natural images.

It turned out her son Toby was quite up for having his photo taken and kept on changing his clothes and showing off his football skills in my studio.

It was a really fun shoot with Toby happy to pose a bit on his own as well as to cuddle up to his mummy and daddy creating some lovely family poses.

I personally think that you cannot go wrong with a white backdrop, it’s timeless and takes nothing away from the lovely family I am photographing creating beautiful portraits perfect for blowing up and hanging up around the house.

Of course having a great family portrait is a must when making the trip to my studio, when else do you get the opportunity to have all of you looking great in a picture?

After our time at the studio is was time to go to Nonsuch park to continue our shoot. I find lifestyle photography in natural surroundings, whether this be at home or in the park lends itself really well for creating a story. This can be done by placing a few prints together on the wall at home or by creating a Storyboard which contain several images. I have many designs and all are ready to print. I have chosen a black and white storyboard on this occasion but it would work equally as well in colour.

I find that storyboards make you feel you were there. Images from an outdoor lifestyle shoots as well as studio shoots are both great for making an album out off. Rebecca opted to receive all her images digitally so I am sure she will have lots of fun making some great pieces with them, perhaps even the odd ‘happy father’s day’ present.

I know how important every moment of childhood is. I constantly want to freeze the frame and capture images of my children at every stage of their development to have a permanent loving record of their little personalities and also of how we all interacted as a family. So it’s not surprising that my clients want a professional photographs taken long after the newborn and toddler stage.
